MyRepublic - a self-proclaimed internet service provider for gamers - has launched in Australia, and is hoping to shake up the NBN market with an unlimited plan being offered for $59.99 per month. Notably, all MyRepublic customers automatically get access to the fastest NBN speeds available at their location. Depending on the technology connecting a subscriber to the National Broadband Network, download speeds can be as fast as 100Mbps, while upload maxes at 40Mbps.
Many other local internet service providers charge an additional monthly premium for these sorts of highspeed connections.
MyRepublic says its network is optimised for low latency gaming, and that gaming and streaming video traffic is prioritised.
MyRepublic plans will go live from November 15, but the company is already taking pre-orders. The first 500 customers to pre-register for a MyRepublic service are able to get $200 off a PlayStation 4 Pro. A 1TB PlayStation 4 Pro would normally cost $559. That offer ends December 14, or when sold out.
After the pre-order period, MyRepublic's "Gamer" plan will be billed at $69.99 per month. The telco's regular NBN offering will however still be available for $59.99. This will have the same inclusions, but won't be optimised for gaming traffic.
MyRepublic plans are sold as a 12 month contract, with a $1 fee for a wireless modem router.
